Packaging Testing

Packaging Testing

Packaging is very important in order to deliver the products to the consumer and to deliver them to their destination safely and undamaged. Depending on the product type and material, breaks, spills or contaminations must be prevented. These situations can result in loss of customers and money. For this reason, care should be taken in the selection of packaging, and packaging should be selected from the appropriate material for the product.

Many factors such as product structure, being affected by environmental conditions, being liquid or solid should be considered in the packaging of various products such as food, medical devices, chemicals, drugs. While choosing the packaging, the packaging must pass various tests. Packaging materials must pass physical, chemical and microbiological tests according to their structure.

Packaging tests can be listed as follows:
Migration Test is performed to detect the penetration of various chemicals in packaging materials into the product. The
Vibration Test is generally performed to simulate vibrations that may occur during the transportation process. The
Shock Test is a simulation performed to determine the behavior of the packaging against unexpected shock effects. The
Compression Test is performed to determine the strength of the packages in stacking operations.
Impact Tests are carried out to determine the durability of packages in situations such as transportation, transportation and stacking.
Environmental Stress Tests are performed to determine whether packaging materials are affected by humid, hot or cold environments.
