Fish Bioassay (ZSF)
Fish biotest is to determine whether test fish can survive in wastewater prepared in accordance with the test within a period of 48 hours. The wastewater sample is diluted in accordance with the analysis and the poisoning of the fish with the harmful substances it contains is observed. Analysis is carried out using fish of the genus Lebistes Reticulatus, Lepomis Macrochirus, Oryzias Latipes, Pimephales Promelas and Poecilia Reticulata.
When toxic wastes are poured or mixed into water bodies where industrial wastes are discharged, water quality decreases and there is a danger to living things. Therefore, regular and continuous evaluation should be carried out.
With fish bioassay, fish are used to monitor the toxicity of industrial wastes and results are obtained with continuously recorded responses. With the fish bioassay, “Toxicity Dilution Factor (ZSF)”, the toxic effect in wastewater can be expressed based on the lowest dilution value at which fish can survive.
