Organic Cotton Testing

Organic Cotton Testing

Cotton produced from non-GMO seeds without the use of toxic, persistent pesticides and fertilizers is called Organic Cotton. Organic cotton production is healthier than traditional cotton production because it supports healthy soil, increases biodiversity, and uses natural farming practices such as fiber reduces water footprint.

Today, 70% of cotton globally has been genetically modified. Some of the cotton strains are inoculated against herbicides and some against pests such as weevil. Therefore, GMO Test in Cotton is required to prove the organic cotton claim and to market the cotton.

The types of GMO analysis carried out within the scope of Nanolab Laboratories Group are as follows:
  • Cotton Seed: Seeds
  • Seed cotton: Raw cotton containing both seed and fiber before ginning
  • Cotton lint: Raw fiber that has undergone the ginning process
  • Raw yarn: Interlocking lint of untreated long continuous length resulting from cleaning and subsequent spinning of lint
