EN 16615
Microorganisms and pathogens can develop on floors, benches, hospital beds, medical equipment in medical areas. Cross-contamination of pathogens to humans causes various diseases. In order to prevent the development of disease-causing microorganisms in medical fields, the performance of the wipes produced and their effects should be evaluated. The general purpose of disinfectants is to reduce the microorganisms on the contaminated surface and to prevent the spread of microorganisms. The longer microorganisms remain on a surface in a hospital environment, the longer it can pose a risk to a sensitive patient or healthcare worker.
The EN 16615 standard, on the other hand, includes the performance determination methods of the wipes produced to disinfect the surface by wiping. With the EN 16615 standard, it is aimed to determine whether the contaminated surfaces are disinfected by wiping with disinfectant wipes and whether it prevents the spread of microorganisms.
EN 16615 – Chemical disinfectants and antiseptics. Quantitative test method (4-field test) for the evaluation of bactericidal and yeasticidal activity on mechanically acting non-porous surfaces using wipes in the medical field. Test method and requirements (2nd stage, 2nd step)
EN 16615: Chemical disinfectants and antiseptics. Quantitative test method for the evaluation of bactericidal and yeasticidal activity on non-porous surfaces with mechanical action employing wipes in the medical area (4- field test). Test method and requirements (phase 2, step 2)
